HIT THE MOOSE
DON GNU is looking for two multi-artists for a new multi cross-artistic co-production in collaboration with Mungo Park and Bora Bora. The performance has the working title RESIDENT and will be premiering in the Fall 2022
We are looking for an artist with musical skills, being able to sing and/or play at one or more instrument - and then we are looking for someone with an extraordinaire physical expression, which could be (but not limited to) new circus, parkour, acrobatic or...?
You do not have to be able to do everything. Instead it is important to us, that you are a specialist within your field and your collaboration skills is very high. Besides this you also need to be able to attend a workshop in the Fall 2021 and to take part in the production run-up and the following performances in Spring 2022 (dates are specified below).
DON GNU – physical theatre & film is an artistic collaboration with focus on dance and physical theatre. The company was founded in 2010 by the two choreographers and artistic directors Jannik Elkær and Kristoffer Louis Andrup Pedersen. Today the company is one of the most touring companies in Denmark with extensive touring both national and internationally.
In DON GNU we create the performances in collaboration with the performers, meaning we develop the material together in a respectful partnership, led and framed by the artistic directors. Hence all performers is a great part of the final expression as we believe we only live and understand in our relation to other people.
We are looking for two different artists - either you are musical, you can sing and/or play one or more instruments OR you have a background within parkour, dance, acrobatic or another physical expressive background.
We would also like you to:
be able to take part in a creative process with great generosity
have a desire for climbing on stuff and explore the use of large objects
be interested in proposing and developing your own material
have a strong scenic presence
have a passion for exploring new possibilities within cross-sectional performing arts
have a positive and open-minded attitude - looking for solutions instead of problems
have the ability to take part in new and alternative formats. It is a physical performance, so you have to be prepared to take part in this despite of your previous experiences.
We see diversity is a great ressource and would therefore encourage everybody - despite of age, gender, disabilities, religion or ethnicity - to send an application.
Please send a resume and a short video presentation of yourself at a maximum of three minutes to email@example.com no later than January 17 – preferable showing some different sides of you and your skills. It may be a compilation of previous work, but it could also be something you film for the occasion. It is really important the video not only consists of close ups and short cuts, as we would like to be able to create an impression of who you are. Please also make sure the video start with a short presentation of yourself and your motivation for being part of this project (Please note: Video recorded with your phone will be just fine - we do note take note of the quality of the video).
